The Bahrain government issues debt instruments called Bahrain Government Securities to support government activities and projects.

 

The Central Bank of Bahrain offers both conventional and Islamic securities, which are provided through ila Bank.

Types of Government Securities

 

Treasury Bills
Treasury bills are short-term government securities sold at a discount. You will profit from the difference between purchase price and value at maturity. They are offered in 3, 6 and 12 Months.

 

Bonds
Bonds are fixed-income instruments that provide investors a return paid by the issuer for an agreed period, similar to a deposit.

 

Islamic Securities (Sukuk)
Sukuk are Islamic financial certificates that comply with Sharia law. Investors partially own the underlying assets, and the issuer promises to buy back the Sukuk at an agreed future value.

How will it work?

 

ila Bank customers can purchase government securities like Treasury Bills, Bonds, and Islamic securities directly through the app, with a minimum BHD 1,000 bid, subject to bank terms.
How to EN
How can I Apply?
1. Tap on “Investments” from the top tab. Then select “Government Securities”.


2. Click on “All Securities” to browse all the available Treasury Bills, Bonds and Sukuk.

 

3. Select government security, enter amount, click "Place Bid" and accept terms and conditions. Your bid will be submitted to the Central Bank of Bahrain, and you'll be charged the final allotment.
