What does the name 'ila' mean and why was it chosen?
The name 'ila' is inspired by the Arabic word for 'to'. It reflects movement towards goals and ambitions. A bank that helps customers get from where they are today, to where they want to be in the future.

How can I get an ila account?
It’s super simple. Just download the ila app on your iOS or Android mobile phone. And answer a few quick questions. You’ll need one ID and a selfie and you must be:
- Living in Bahrain, and
- 18 years or above
Once your account is open, you can access it anytime, anywhere through the app.
What documents will I need to open an ila account?
You will need one piece of ID.
ID documents that you can use:
- Valid Bahraini Identity Card - CPR
- Valid Bahraini Passport (for Bahraini citizens only)

ila is a mobile-only digital bank, however you can arrange to visit us by calling +973 17 123 456.
How long does it take to process my documents and open my account?
In most cases, it takes a few minutes to open your ila account. However, you might face some delay depending on the documents you provide or any other missing information that you might need to share with us.
How secure is mobile banking?
Your security and confidentiality are our top priority. Our security standards, checks, and tools are based on best practice and industry standards including 3D secure, which is a security protocol that helps to prevent fraud in online debit card transactions.
You will be using your unique customer ID and password to verify your identity and authorize your
banking transactions. Make sure you keep both safe and secure at all times and do NOT share them with anyone else!
To protect your identity and money, we’ll automatically lock your account in case of multiple unsuccessful login attempts. Don’t worry, you can always unlock it once we’ve done additional security checks.
Where can I use my ila cards?
You can use your ila virtual card on eCommerce transactions, Benefit Gateway and BenefitPay app. Enabling you to make online purchases, top-up your wallets, order a taxi or your favorite food delivery without delay.
You can use your ila physical card on all the above along with ATMs in Bahrain, ATMs anywhere in the world that accept Mastercard, point of sale devices (Tap & Go), across Bahrain and worldwide where accepted.
What is Tap & Go?
Contactless feature enables you to make quick, Tap & Go payments up to BHD 50 without entering your PIN at the supported point of sales terminals.
Any contactless transaction above BHD 50 will require your PIN at the supported point of sales terminals.
Contactless transactions on supported ATMs will always require your PIN.
How can I fund my account?
You can easily fund your account in seconds in four different ways:
- Your existing bank debit card
- BenefitPay
- Bank transfer
- Cash or cheque deposit at an ila ATM

What should I do if I lose or damage my physical card?
If you’ve temporarily misplaced your card, you can freeze it instantly within the ‘My Cards’ section of the app – then unfreeze it just as easily once you’ve got it back.
If your card has been lost, stolen or damaged, simply select the option to block your card and order a new one, again using the app.
How can I change my card PIN number?
You can easily change your card PIN number on your ila app. Select your card in the Cards menu and select Manage Card PIN. You can also change it through ila ATMs.
Do you provide credit cards or loans?
We will be providing both in the future. Watch this space.
How can I request for an official bank statement? Is there any cost?
It’s easy. Just call our Contact Center on +973 17 123 456; ila team is available 24/7 to help you.
What is a virtual debit card?
A virtual debit card remains in your ila app only and can be used instantly after activation. Your card contains all the details needed for you to perform your online transactions. You can use it on eCommerce transactions, Benefit Gateway and BenefitPay app. Link multiple currencies to your virtual card ensuring that you get the right currency for your online transactions at no cost.
You will get your virtual debit card immediately once your ila account is open.
Can I customize the way my name appears on my card?
Yes, you can select any combination of your names and initials as you want them to appear on your card.
Is there a limit to the number of characters that can appear on my card?
You can have a maximum of 22 characters including spaces.
When can I customize my name on my card?
When you order a new or replacement card you will be given the option to customise your name.
Do I have to memorize my virtual card number for online transactions?
No. Simply go to your cards in the app, click on 'Show Details' then select 'Copy card number'. You can then paste this number for your online transactions.
Can I copy and paste my IBAN?
You can copy your IBAN by selecting the account and tapping the copy icon next to the IBAN. You can then paste this number where required.
Can I change the name of my accounts?
You can change the name of any of your accounts by selecting the account and tapping the edit icon next to the account name.
How often can I change my account names?
You can change your account names as often as you wish.
Can I donate to charity using the ila app?
To donate to charity, open the ila app and select 'Payments', then tap on 'Donate to charity'.
Can I donate to charity using any of my accounts?
Currently, you can only make donations to charity from your Bahraini Dinar account.
Which charities can I donate to?
We've selected charities based on ila customer feedback.
To find out which charities you can donate too, open the ila app and select Payments, then tap on Donate to charity.
We will continue to add to the list of charities and causes.
Why should I use ila to make my donations to charities?
It's fast and convenient. You can also view the total amount you've donated to the charities listed.
Where can I view the total amount I've donated to the charities listed?
The total amount you have donated to the listed charities will be shown at the top of the 'Your Donations' screen when you select 'Donate to charity'.
What is the amount displayed for each cause?
This is the target we are aiming to reach for that particular cause.
Is the target amount updated as soon as I make a donation?
Yes, your donation is immediately reflected in the target amount of that cause.
How do I know my donation has reached the charity I selected?
All donations received from ila customers are sent directly to the charitable organization.
You will receive an account debit SMS notification and the charities name will appear alongside the transaction in your account statement.
Do you take a commission on charitable donations?
No, we transfer the full amount to your selected charity and cause without taking any fees, charges or commission.
How much can I donate to charity through ila?
There are no set limits to your donations. You can transfer any amount from your Bahraini Dinar account.
Will I be charged for charity transactions?
No, all charity related transactions are exempt from any funds transfer fees. All of your donation will be transferred to your chosen charity/cause without any deductions.
Are there any restrictions on the number of times I can donate to charity?
There are no restrictions on the number of times you can donate to any of the charities, even if the targets have been met.
Will you be adding more charities and causes in the future?
Yes, we will keep on adding more causes and charities in the future. Keep an eye on ila social media channels.
